Dr. Helena Maltezou currently is the Head of the Department for Interventions in Health-Care Facilities at the Hellenic Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Athens, Greece. Dr. Maltezou received her Medical Degree and her PhD from the University of Crete, Greece, and her residency in Pediatrics from the University of Athens. Dr. Maltezou has studied infections in transplant recipients at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, USA (post-doctoral fellowship from 1994-1997) and infectious diseases at the Unite des Rickettsies, Universite de la Mediterannee, Marseille, France (fellowship from the European Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases, 2001-2003). In 2006 Dr. Maltezou received her Infectious Diseases Specialization Diploma.
