Marie Claude Georges

 

Marie Claude Georges Courbot is currently the Engineer of Research, responsible for BSL-4 training at the Laboratory P4 Jean Mérieux INSERM, Lyon since 2006. Previously, she was Head of Laboratory in the Unit of Biology of Emerging Viral Infections and the Vice Director of the National Centre of Viral Hemorrhagic Fever, UBIVE, at the Institute Pasteur for 6 years.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Diarrheal Disease: Research in epidemiology and etiology of diarrheal disease in children in Africa. Molecular characterization of rotavirus; genotyping of campylobacter.

Vaccinology: Evaluation in the field in Africa of rotavirus, rabies, yellow fever vaccine; research on HIV vaccine in chimpanzees.

Retrovirology: Molecular characterization of VIH strains. Factors of pathogenicity of SIV and HIV. Epidemiology of SIV and STLV.

Arborivirus and Viral Hemorrhagic Fever: Epidemiological studies in Africa. Research on immune response in Ebola infected patients. Diagnosis, evaluation of antiviral molecules.

Henipvirus (Nipah and Hendra Viruses): Animal model for pathogenesis studies. Evaluation of antivral molecules.
